May 31 (Pentecost Sunday)

As the State of Illinois moves toward Phase III of “Restore Illinois,” many are wondering about returning to our sanctuaries for public worship.  My commitment as your spiritual shepherd at Dwight UMC, and with the full support of DUMC congregational leaders has and will continue to be that we must follow the direction of our bishop and conference leadership.  Bishop Frank Beard released the following video which describes in some detail steps that will lead us in that direction.  I encourage you to watch and listen.  https://vimeo.com/421568939
Know that we will keep you informed as we move forward with caution and prayer so that we may all remain safe in God’s house.  In the meanwhile, we will continue to worship via our YouTube presence.  As I have said from the beginning, “The Church has left the building.”

Join us this Sunday, May 31st for worship uploaded to our YouTube Channel.  The service will be posted on our channel by 9 a.m. so that we can worship together at that hour, or at a time of your choosing.  The link will be here and posted on social media (Facebook and Twitter) as well as via our newsletter mailing lists.  Did you know that DUMC has a YouTube Channel?  The address is below, and you can view at some prior content, sermons, choir anthems, special music, and praise team selections.

Graduation Drop Offs

8th grade and high school graduation drop offs will take place this Saturday, May 30th during the morning.. Be on the lookout!  If you are in the country, please check  your mailboxes.  College graduates to be done soon.

At this time,  no student ministries are physically meeting at DUMC.  This includes Sunday School, Kids Klub, R.E.A.L Kids,  and R.E.A.L/Ignite Youth.  During this time, if you click on each group name at the top of the page there are spiritual based devotions, activities, and lessons that you can do as a family.  The activities are different for each group and will be updated weekly as long needed.

VBS will still be taking place this year!  VBS will not meet within the church building but it will meet within family homes.  Click on the VBS tab under kids and youth for more information and registration opportunities. Don’t miss out on this faith filled family focused fun VBS as we explore and deepen our FAITH!

Something New! There is now a new Kids Klub/R.E.A.L kids Facebook group  for our families,  Please like, share, and invite our parents.  The group will have information concerning Kids Klub and R.E.A.L Kids.  It will also have some faith inspired fun family activities and give us the opportunity to have some interactions.  If you need additional resources please contact Stacey at stacey@dwightumc.org.
