Student Ministries Update
Backpack Blessings – On Sunday, August 16th at both the 8:00 am and 10:30 am service, we will be blessing backpacks. Children, youth, college students, and teachers are invited to bring their backpacks to church. In continuing to keep safety as a priority, we will not bring the backpacks up to the railing. We would encourage people to hold up their backpacks for a blessing when asked to do so. Participants will pick up a packaged key chain and blessing tag from the table in the Welcome Center following the service.
3rd Grade Bibles –
Children entering 3rd grade will also be receiving their own Bibles at the 8:00 and 10:30 services on Sunday, August 16th. Bibles will be bagged and labeled with children’s names on them and will also be on the table in the Welcome Center for pick up at the conclusion of services.
Planning and preparation is underway for fall programming for all children and youth ministries. We are looking very closely at safety guidelines, mandates, and directives from our Bishop as we plan. We are praying for God’s guidance and wisdom to helps us serve our children and youth in the safest and best way possible. At this time, we do not have a specific start date. Specific details will be released as soon as plans are finalized. As is true for all ministries, the format and structure may look different from what we know and are comfortable with but the message of God’s love remains constant as does our directive to share that love with the children and youth of our church and community. In the meantime, we will continue to utilize a social media and virtual platform to present lessons and activities for our children and youth. Please visit our church website at dwightumc.org. Then click on the tab that says kids/youth. Then select which area of children or youth ministry you need like Sunday School or R.E.A.L., for example. There are weekly updates of worship, lessons, and activities for each group. Kids Klub/R.E.A.L Kids also has a new Facebook group called Kids Klub/R.E.A.L Kids at DUMC. In this group are other videos, messages, object lessons, and simple craft ideas are shared. If you are a parent of a Kids Klub child or a R.E.A.L Kids child, please join our group. You might see and hear some familiar voices and faces. R.E.A.L/Ignite also has a Facebook group that parents and youth can join.
If you need additional resources please contact Stacey at email@example.com.
